Keeping the January blues at bay can sometimes feel like fighting a loosing battle. The dark nights and dark mornings can feel never ending and all of a sudden the twinkly lights of Christmas are gone. Although taking down the Christmas decorations makes the house feel so fresh, it’s nice to keep the cosiness going to endure the rest of winter.
Here are 3 ways I keep the cosy going in my house:
FAIRY LIGHTS:
Leaving a set of fairy lights up is a nice way to keep the December mood going without everything else that comes with it. Keep the lights warm toned to up the cosy vibe. Laying them at the back of shelves and cabinets helps to diffuse the glow and avoid harsh light.
DOUBLE DOWN ON SOFT FURNISHINGS:
Get all of your blankets out ( and maybe buy a new one with that Christmas gift card) and layer them up. Mixing texture, pattern and colour is my favourite way to create a cosy atmosphere.
CANDLES:
Create a relaxing evening routine of switching on all your lamps and lighting your candles. Embrace the hygge. It gives you something to look forward to when the night starts drawing in and your home will smell divine.
